Re: Front Hubs

I get emails from both, I send requests to Dale@.... I get items posted by either.

Shame about the CV boots. I suppose it is only to be expected after 30 years of service even if most of that time has been sitting still!

Re: indicator switch

That's the bit I asked for a photo of (would be nice with some dimensions as well). I have found a spring which looks like it fits over the center sleeve - it would hold the lever with the cross bars up against the inside of the cover which, presumably makes sure that the headlight flash system does...

Re: Engine strip down.

Julian, The reason for the differences in the torque values for what on the surface appears to be the same item is due to two things: 1) The studs are different lengths which makes their tensile strength different. 2) They are in different thicknesses of casting so again the tensile strength of the ...

Re: Engine strip down.

Sorry Julian,

My mistake, the tables were on the Yahoo keeping my Haflinger alive site:-

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ste ... e%20table/

If you still can't get them or don't understand them, let me know.

Hi, I found the following details on a Haflinger meeting:- It might be of interest to some. I was going to go, but unfortunately both vehicle and me will be unable to attend this year. Re: Engine strip down.

Julian, Have you looked at the torque tables that were posted on the yahoo group site? I downloaded a copy of the tables and it lists the various studs holding the crank case together - in MKP, but you can use an online converter to convert to NM. I saw two M7 which varied between 1.6 and 1.8 MKP bu...

Re: Front Hubs

If I understand the pretty "little" diagram in the parts book, it seems to suggest you put the split boot on with the "split" horizontal to the ground on the "front" side of the shaft. Does make it slightly awkward to do up, but not impossible. Obviously much easier to ...

Re: Adding PTO

Much as I hate to agree with you, it does look like it's a non starter to retro fit (unless you happen to have all the bit sitting in the garage). Still, I will continue looking for bits / hopefully a complete vehicle with it fitted. Just seems a waste to carry two engines around when one would do! ...

Adding PTO

Hi,

I own an LWB Haffie and I was wondering what is involved in retro fitting a PTO system? What I was hoping to do is run an air compressor.

So given that it is possible to fit a PTO to an LWB - are such things available? If so what sort of price are we talking?

Virtual Help for Haflinger owners

Hi all, Following on from a thread on board, it was suggested that as it is possible to do surgery by proxy over the 'net that it should be possible to do the same for working on a Haflinger. To this end, I am willing to help (if I can) people who are working on their Haflingers. SKYPE NAME: heinkel...

Re: Engine strip down.

Actually, if you had a laptop / computer / smartphone with a program like Skype on it, then it would be possible to set up a link with some one who could guide you doing various tasks. It would have limitations obviously but things like time zones are down to humans. The best link would use either a...

Re: Engine strip down.

Julian, Looking at the parts book, there is only the 0.1 mm Copper washer and the 14 mm pin that could have any affect on the joint between the flywheel and the crankshaft. I had come to the conclusion that the position of the crankshaft and end float was controlled by the shouldered main bearing an...

My RHD LWB has it on the left hand side of the engine bay.

I don't suppose it makes much difference which side it really is as the cable from the trailer will have to be long enough which ever side it is on.

Re: Oil Levels

Well I can answer first question, it needs oil because it has bearings inside. I must admit I have not looked at that bit very closely, other than like you to see an access point. Would seem very strange to force you to "suck" oil out of the tube when every other place on the vehicle which...

Re: Front Diff Lock Linkages

Nearside and offside vary depending on which side of the road you drive on. The side nearest the Kerb / edge of the road is the near side - That's why there is a "direction" arrow in the parts book to allow for LHD and RHD vehicles in the same book. It gets confusing when you have the oppo...

I agree.

You don't need to be Ultra precise about it, but some region of the UK or some other part of the world would help when people ask for some help - there might be a local help available if we knew where they were!

Re: Front Diff Lock Linkages

I quite agree, much easier to use a split boot to replace a leaking one rather than dismantle everything, (even thought you should now be able to do it blindfolded)! If my replacement top plate(s) arrive and the weather is reasonable, I might get mine down off its blocks of wood and back on four whe...
