Re: engine rebuild
Hi Garry, Sorry I don't have a email address for Tony, I am not sure he has one, he has been retired for a while so I don't think he has kept up with modern technology, I contact him by phone ,but he is a good source for parts and very knowledgeable regarding Haflingers and other Steyr things, his g...

Re: engine rebuild
I took the crank shaft, pistons, & cylinders to my local engine reconditioner and they have checked the parts over and advised me to change the main bearings but stick to standard size as there is no wear, only the fitted bearings are starting to get very minute marks on the surfaces. the cylind...

Re: For the Aussies - Haflinger For Sale In Cairns
This is the Haf ,I got the measurements from ,to do the replica tail board in the body and paint- tail board thread. I think it has had a new rear foot well replacement as the old one was rusting out. There was a SWB advertised in Lismore NSW recently for $300 it has since been sold , any one know w...

Re: indicator switch
Hi Ian, Unfortunately the Haflinger world lost a great deal of knowledge when Andrew passed ,I last visited him about 4 years ago,and spent a couple of hours with him. from the start to the end of the visit he talked of nothing but Haflingers, what he had done with them and how to repair different t...

selector tower
I have removed the gearbox again as I could not select 3,4 & 5 , I have checked everything and all looks ok, my only concern is the position of the selector lever at the top of the gearbox tower, when it is in neutral and in the lower position it looks very close to the side of the tower and it ...

Re: Synthetic oil
I purchased this oil some time ago for the gearbox and drive train etc. I spoke to the people who I purchased it from regarding it being synthetic . He contacted the import agent to check if it was ok to use on a gearbox with non ferous parts , they assured me that it was ,as they also have old vehi...

Synthetic oil
I know that in the engine /carb index it was advised not to use synthetic oil in your engine, but is it safe to use synthetic oil in the gearbox and drive train etc?

Re: indicator switch
I received these parts on Friday, I have just fitted them but not had chance to test them yet. I have just removed the gearbox as I am having trouble selecting 2/4/5. every thing seemed ok on the rebuild. I will keep you posted as to what I find.

Re: Haflinger lacks power
My haf would not run ok when I got it , I found the dip pipe in the fuel tank was blocked , I used plastic waste pipe priming fluid (used to clean the pipe before gluing) was the only thing that would soften the blockage, then I used s/s braided wire to pass through the pipe to clear it, after that ...

Re: Charging light
I have found the problem, one of the earth wires on the dynastart was just touching the nut on the power cable on the dynastart so it was not getting the correct voltage so the light was staying on. A head scratching but simple repair.

Re: Repro Mufflers
The only slight problem I had was I had to adjust the bracket fixings on the muffler by about 25 mm sideways as they would not bolt to the muffler bracket without spacers.

When I turn the ignition switch on the charging light is on ,when I start the engine the charging light goes out. when I rev the engine the charging light comes back on and stays on . The regulator is the original one which was fitted before the rebuild and this worked ok before. A friend of mine bo...
