Viewed the Haflinger that's going for auction at Shannon's May 5. I was passing by so thought I should have a look!

700 APT2 , poly cabin. No doors
Evenly the brakes are all shot, & the rears are seized , the pedal goes to the floor.
There is 1/2 a turn of slack in the steering wheel, I could rattle the r/h side tie rod!

Has been painted green by brush, looks ok from a distance, not sure what sins the paint is hiding, apparently the rear seats are available but weren't with the car.

Big treaded brand new tyres.

FZG 5311022. ( what does FZG stand for?)
Mot 5363408
Fahrgest 5361386

The sales man noted the last one for auction went mad, selling for around $18,000
This car is expected to be around $6k plus.

They are awaiting some details before it's listed in the catalogue.

Fzg - fahrzeug is vehicle or car number.

Fahrgestell is the Chassis number

Mot is the Engine Number

Was it fitted with PTO as it appears to have a rear foot well blanked off, and a forth control lever?

Otherwise looks quite reasonable

Sold for $9000 AUD (£5000). If the mechanicals matched the look of the paint maybe worth it but given the mechanicals probably a bit on the high side.

I was at the auction, I bought the "Flinkel Fluff GT"!

Only two bidders, I spoke to the under bidder & suggested he post a wanted add on this site.

It looked good from a distance in that the paint job was not great - see my original post.

what would it cost to fix the brakes, electrics and muffler? Maybe a couple of grand and it would be a good work horse with the scope to restore later. I couldnt poke it too hard, but it appeared reasonably sound, maybe surface rust the brush job covered up!
Depends on how it runs, which the test report said it was Ok...maybe....

I would've put my hand up if it went for around $6K.

What are you going to do with a "Flinkel Fluff GT". Given the price you paid I actually think it will be a good investment in the long term. Quirky and rare enough to create a bit of interest in the future.

Hi Garry
I'll keep it, the kids will decide....
We're wanting to use it down at the beach, where the Haffy is, to go to the beach & shops.
I'll investigate getting it regoed, it has previously been registered, joe Flinkier owned it, he is still a car dealer in St Kilda. I'd like to take it there and get a photo and some info as in 30 years that info will add to its value.
I've cleaned the tank out & fixed some wires but still can't get it running for more than a few seconds, once it ran for 20. It could be very oiled up. I'm trying to find some info, the Tomas motor is quite well known, still making mopeds. I'll check timing next, my Lambretta wouldn't start when I got it (cheap) timing was way out, started straight away. Any way it's a bit of fun!

Hi All

I am now the owner of the Haflinger that is the topic of this forum.

It was purchased by a friend of mine who used it a couple of times and decided it was not for him. I acquired it as part of a deal that I did for him and is now in my possession.

I am now wanting to move it on as I was always going to do as I have other projects and cars that need my attention.

Brakes have been rebuilt but as suggested tie rod end need attention.

I thought I would offer it here to the real enthusiasts before I go down the Carsales and Gumtree path.
