Time to get down to the important things of Haffie ownership
Ok - time to get down to the important things of Haffie ownership
How do you carry your cups of coffee?? Cup holders
One of the more mundane duties of my Haffie is to take me down to Maccas to get my good morning cuppacino. (Maccas coffee may not be for the connoisseurs but is good for quaffing). Oh - Maccas = McDonalds = That awful US based hamburger joint with the Golden Arches).
So far I have been able to get my coffee back home with it sitting next the the 4wd lever without it spilling but there have been a few close calls. So who has installed cup holders in their Haffie and where did you put them?
Pics would be great.
(oh - and when you go an get your coffee and you get an ice cream cone (with a flake) for 80c don't try to drive your haffie and have your ice cream too as the ice cream gets all over the inside of the windscreen )

Re: Time to get down to the important things of Haffie owner
Doh!! Have you tried it with doughnuts?
Do you get one with a lid? If you do then make a wire loop of the correct diameter to go up as far as the lip on the cup. Two arm that go upwards that end in a hook.
Put cup of coffee in the loop, hang from the passenger hand grab rail - Job done!

How about this? Took all of two minutes to make.
Can be adjusted to accommodate different size cups just by altering tightening or loosening the wire loop.

Great minds think alike - went done to get my coffee this morning and was staring at the gun rack - take the top bit off that is bolted to the grab rail and put in a cup holder instead - actually if the gun holder was a wider I could use it. I cannot have anything hanging down from the grab handle as I actually have a luxo haffie so have a door on my glove box so need a bit of space under the grab handle.
I have a cup holder and some cable ties
Result
Coffee
Coke - but it might be a bit unstable when full
Now my car has a great little fridge in the centre console - so now to put a fridge in the Haffie
You have to get your priorities right

Nice use of cable ties!
Don't think much of the depth of your cup holder.... Looks like anything you put in there with some liquid in it will tip right out at the first change in speed on a Hafi.

Re: Time to get down to the important things of Haffie owner
I have the same cup holder in my Range Rover and works great with cups and 370ml cans but not so good with 600ml bottles but I can lay the bottles down next to the seats.
Now for that fridge.

Take out one of the rear "occasional" seats and just drop the fridge in there! Be bit of a pain to reach whilst driving but that's a minor issue
It's probably the angle of the photo which suggests it is not deep enough as a cup holder.
Do you drive with or with out the doors? You could always alter my idea to work from the chain, then it would be easier to throw at the dog chasing you!

Re: Time to get down to the important things of Haffie owner
Doors on in winter, doors off in summer.
Just joking about the fridge
But I could carry my 25l compressor fridge in the back.
That cup holder was just one I had left over from the car - when I am down at the spare parts shop next I will see if I can a deeper one there. The cup holder works fine in the car riding on air suspension but in a forward control riding over the front wheels things can be a bit difference. I have lost my coffee a couple of times in my 101 after hitting a deep pothole and anything loose goes flying.

Wow - that is design in motion .
What is that little statue to the left - to my untrained eye looks like something in real life you would not bump into in a dark alley.

It is a Hawaiian tiki. I have them as well as cup holders in all my vehicals. The holder on the hafi is just a quick one I made out of scrap around the shop.
Here is one for my Pinz
Here is a nicer one I made for my bus.

It has been awhile since I owned my old series lls. If you were in Washington I'd say you could stop by and we could make you a set.

A 101 is better than a series 2 - yes is a bit far to travel but you have given me a few ideas - thanks

Re: Time to get down to the important things of Haffie owner
Because of the points about the cup holder being too shallow I got this one - took a whole 2 minutes to take to old one out and put the new one in.

I think that will hold a coffee with less "spillage" than the other one.....
